Wellesley performs well at Interzone cross Country

24 June 2019

With a chilly day and passing showers at Trentham Memorial park on Tuesday the 18th of June, the scene was set for an exciting 2019 Interzone Cross- country event.

Wellesley had 32 boys qualify  for this event. They headed along in the school van, and with parents, to compete. All of the boys did the school proud trying their best and achieving good results.

The track was certainly tricky, with some muddy areas and a very fast start line.  It was a great chance for our Year 4 boys to take part in the event for the first time, and we are sure we will see them come back for another go next year!

In the Year 6 race George Gray comfortably won his race with a good margin between him and the 2nd place. Oli Hercus and Sam Gates both came in second in their races.

Four boys from Year 8, an impressive seven boys from Year 7, and two boys from Year 6 finished in the Top 10, giving them entry into Regionals in July. Two further boys are named as reserves.

It is going to be exciting to watch how these boys go at Regionals: there really is some running talent in this group!

Congratulations, boys, for taking on the challenge and heading along to the event. You represented the school well.
