Kia ora koutou,
I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break and we welcome you back to Term 2! As we move into winter, which was quite abruptly brought to our attention with the storm last week, we were reminded of the resilience of our boys and the way that everyone stepped up and kept going. I am filled with excitement and optimism for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
Reflecting on Term 1, we saw remarkable progress in our students’ academic performance, participation in extracurricular activities, and overall well-being. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and, most importantly, our hardworking students for making Term 1 a success.
This term, we will continue to build on our successes and strive for excellence in all areas through our varied and exciting offerings. We have much to look forward to for all of our Wellesley Community – past, present, and future. On the calendar for our boys, we have a busy term with cross country, winter sports fixtures, choir camp and a choir exchange, the Scholastic book fair which has brought a blizzard of books to the library and book character dress-up day, speech competitions, and Tuakana Teina time. Our Year 7’s and leaders will be off to Young Leaders Day while our Year 8’s will spend the term exploring the wonderful world of Food Trucks.
For our alumni, we welcome our college-aged boys back to school for a fun afternoon, and for our current families, there will be parent-teacher meetings and some time to reflect as we gather for Matariki day. For our future families, there is an Open Day on the 25th of May. We also invite applications for our Foundation Scholarships for entry into Year 7 in 2026.
As we move forward into Term 2, I encourage everyone to stay focused, work hard, and support one another. Together, we can achieve great things and make this term a memorable and successful one.
Ngā mihi nui,
Michael Bain
Principal
