Wellesley Two Year Bursary – for boys entering year 2, 3, 4 or 5 2024

We are delighted that you are considering Wellesley for your son’s education. Located in a unique environment, Wellesley is a leading independent primary school for boys from years 1-8. Wellesley is grounded in nurturing relationships and guided by values where boys discover the love of learning, and are empowered to discover their best.  

Wellesley Values Bursaries are now open for enquiry, for boys entering into Years 2, 3, 4 or 5 in 2024 who are domestic students not currently enrolled at Wellesley. Applying for a Wellesley Values Bursary is a simple process and we welcome all applications.

Bursaries will be awarded to students who currently demonstrate and show promise of living Wellesley three school values. Wellesley’s values are: Risk taking in learning; Perseverance for personal bests; Respect and empathy for self, others and Wellesley. Bursaries will be awarded for a period of two years and provides 20% of the tuition fee.

  • Completed Bursary Application Form
  • Cover letter
  • Reference letter
  • Recent head and shoulders photograph
  • Recent full school report
  • Birth certificate/passport
  • Copies of Specialist Reports (if applicable)
  • Copies of Supporting Documents (if applicable)

General Guidelines:

Wellesley has a special character which includes its teaching and learning philosophy, engaging boys, providing learning opportunities and wrapping the curriculum around their passions. Our boys feel like they belong to a special place and are part of the Wellesley family. We encourage them to live by the Wellesley Values: To take risks, to persevere under challenging circumstances and to demonstrate respect and empathy in all their interactions.

Boys wishing to apply for a Wellesley Values Bursary will be expected to demonstrate the promise of living Wellesley’s three school values. Applicants will be expected to be motivated, show leadership, endeavour, kindness, respect and courage and work towards achieving their best both in and out of school.

While on a Wellesley Bursary the applicant is expected to:

  • Work hard to discover their best
  • Be committed to the school ethos and its values
  • Participate in the wider life of our School
  • Be a positive role model to their classmates in both the classroom and on the sports field
  • Be willing to represent Wellesley
  • Demonstrate academic improvement

Process

    • Enquire through the form below, application forms and any further information regarding the bursary will then be emailed to you once applications open in July 2023.
    • Submit your application and supporting documentation either via email (amanda@wellesley.school.nz) or in person at the School Office (please ensure all required supporting documentation is attached, incomplete applications will not be considered)
    • Shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and interviews will be in early Term Four (See Bursary FAQ for more information on Interview Process)
    • All families will be notified about decisions on applications whether successful or not following the interviews in Term Three.
    • A non-refundable confirmation fee of $300.00 is payable on acceptance of the bursary.
      • To secure the students position for the 2024 school year, a $1500.00 bond is payable by 8th December 2023.
