Extra-Curricular Arts at Wellesley

At Wellesley, in addition to the class Visual and Performing Arts lessons, boys are able to access individual musical tuition in an instrument during school hours via our Itinerant Music Teachers’ Programme. Lessons are available on piano, violin, cello, woodwind (clarinet, saxophone, flute) trumpet, drums and guitar.

Specialist vocal tuition is also available. Lessons on violin and piano are available for boys in Years 1 – 8. Lessons on all other instruments, including vocal tuition, are available for Year 5 – 8 students. Meet our Itinerant Music Teachers here.

To book your son’s music lessons, please fill out the ITINERANT MUSIC ENROLMENT FORM or contact Carolyn Currington for more information.

The Wellesley Orchestra

This an enjoyable opportunity for boys who play an instrument with some proficiency to come together to play as a group at school. The orchestra performs at various events and occasions, including the Wellington Bands and Orchestra Festival (WEBO) each year.

The Rock Band

This an opportunity for Year 8 students to showcase their talent. The highlight is participation in the annual “Battle of the Bands” competition.

For information about the Wellesley Orchestra or to join the Rock Band, please contact mary-anne@wellesley.school.nz
