Lumi’s Lockdown Artwork Challenge

22 April 2020

The brief was to find a famous painting, recreate it with you and/or your family in it.  Take a photo of your creation.  Send the famous painting and your creation to Mr Jorna.   Lumi (Wellesley’s wonder dog) had set a weekend challenge for our boys.

It became so popular that the challenge was extended for two weeks.  The entries came in thick and fast and judging was never going to be an easy task, such was the creativity of our Wellesley artists.

Today, our winner was announced.  Congratulations to Year 8 artist Lachlan Moar for his incredible recreation of Banksy’s mural.  We love his attention to detail and how he has superbly captured the emotion in this piece.

2nd place was awarded to Year 3 artist, Finn Hurdle for his captivating portrayal.  We loved the way Finn captured the intensity of this painting and the way he coloured and designed his own background.

3rd place was awarded to Year 8 artist, Christopher Dyer for his elegant portrayal.  We love the detailing and the resourceful use of everyday items to recreate this painting.

Tomorrow (23rd April) we will be uploading all entries to our facebook page for People’s Choice and everyone will have their chance to vote for their favourite.

Thank you to all those who participated, what an amazing effort – good luck with the people’s choice voting.

2nd Place Finn Hurdle Year 3 Artist
