Welcome to Wellesley, we are delighted that you are considering sending your son to our school with its unrivalled setting between the bush and the sea.

Wellesley is an Independent Primary School for Boys ages 5 to 13 and is filled with opportunities and grounded in nurturing relationships and values. With over 100 years of educating boys in our history we pride ourselves in creating a future-focused environment so that every boy is empowered to discover his best.

Due to the current COVID-19 Global pandemic, New Zealand’s borders remain closed except to New Zealand citizens and residents, and a small number of limited exceptions. Importantly, students who are currently outside New Zealand will not be able to apply for a student visa for a period of three months starting from the 10th of August 2020. More information can be found on the Immigration New Zealand Website. There is also information from New Zealand Education which provides further help regarding International students during the pandemic and can be found here.

Wellesley is continuing to adjust and revise our offering to International Students and we look forward to welcoming you to our country and our school as soon as the borders are open. Currently travel into New Zealand is controlled by mandatory 14 day quarantine (more information can be found on the Department of Health website). This is currently incurring a fee which will be paid by the travelers and is currently set a $3100 per room hotel stay and $950 for each extra adult and $475 per child. Should the borders reopen and this scheme still be in place, Wellesley will make contact with you and your child during the two week stay and a distance programme will operate during the quarantine period.

While we wait for borders to open and student visas to again be considered, we are happy to discuss a place for your son at Wellesley, and will advise fee structure upon confirmation of place and enrollment.

Principals Address

Tēnā Koutou Katoa,

It is my privilege to welcome you and your boy(s) to Wellesley College, an Independent Primary School for Boys in Years 1-8.

Wellesley’s aim is to bring out the best in each boy.  Our approach focuses on developing each boy in mind, body and spirit, which gives each of them a platform to excel. Using our unique environment and building positive relationships with our ākonga, students, together we embrace our school values in order to discover the best versions of ourselves. In a world of constant change and increasing disruption, we believe that empowering each boy to find his potential, and unlock his passions, will ultimately be how he will succeed in his own special way.
