Principal's Message

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Wellesley website. We are an Independent Primary School for boys from Years One to Eight with a proud 100 year history. At Wellesley, we are passionate about boys’ education and strive to provide a holistic educational experience that encompasses a variety of rich and diverse activities. At the heart of our teaching practice is our boys’ needs, where the individual learner plays a vital role in the education process.

Wellesley is situated in a beautiful location and has wonderful facilities. We take pride in our history and value our traditions and we balance the need for new innovations with respect for our past. Our facilities, grounds and resources provide an excellent support structure for the teachers who are dynamic professionals and enthusiastic about their teaching and learning. We have a number of specialist teachers who deliver lessons in Physical Education, Technology, Science, Music, Visual and Performing Arts and who nurture the creative thinking of students.

At Wellesley, we value professional and authentic relationships with our students, staff and parents. We value critical thinking skills and we provide opportunities for boys to develop these life-long skills. Our staff base decisions on the individual needs of each boy and we endeavour to create a learning environment where boys can take ‘risks’ in a safe and supported environment to learn. Boys learn by doing and we endeavour to use constructivist strategies linked with emotional intelligence in each class every day.

At Wellesley, we want boys to have fun. We want them to love their schooling; play, interact, discover, and engage with their surroundings. We want them to ‘have a go’ and work hard to achieve their goals. We want them to love the school as much as the staff and community do and be part of something special.
