“Dear Wellesley College,
My name is Euan Briggs, and I was Wellesley's first GAP tutor back in 1996. I have been meaning to write for some time, and am sorry it took so long to put pen to paper (as it were). Interestingly I first saw email "in action" whilst at Wellesley. I was told that it would revolutionise the world, and I doubted that at the time. That is only one example of Wellesley teaching me a thing or two!
I can't believe that it is thirteen years since I left Wellesley. I have just been onto the website for a trip down memory lane, and it is even more stunning than I remember. Time seems so inconsequential through your twenties, and then suddenly it hits you bang in the face when you have children and start planning their lives. That has probably been the trigger for me writing to you. I have been looking at school prospectuses and considering what I believe is important in a school, and my point of reference is entirely Wellesley. I have to say it is not an easy benchmark for schools to be judged against.
I am probably not the only eighteen year old English boy to have arrived at Wellesley thinking that the world was at my feet, and to have left much better equipped to face the world! Whilst it wasn't a formal educational experience, I probably learned more about myself, about societal values, about the purpose of education, and about how to get along in the world in those six months than in my last two years at school or my three years at university. And for that I thank all those involved.
I am really pleased to see that a number of those involved at the time are still at the school —and no doubt still striving to produce an even better school. I think it was the definition of "better" that really struck me most at Wellesley.
All the best,”

“The past two years have had a definite impact on James – he is very sad to be leaving Wellesley. From day one he fitted in, and has never looked back. I know you are told this all the time – however Wellesley is a fantastic school. The culture of the school is very warm and welcoming. We felt a part of it right from the start”
– Anne, Grant and Sarah
“Wellesley is an outstanding school. It provides a very real and supportive environment. The child is regarded undoubtedly as an individual and, as a result, a strong sense of self belief is almost a given result.”
– Martin and Chris
“Our son has thoroughly enjoyed his time at Wellesley and as a family we believe the culture, atmosphere and spirit of the school is wonderful. You and your staff have found the perfect balance between personal development, academic achievement and consideration for others that produces well rounded, well mannered young men that we as parents can be proud of.”
– Harvey and Fiona
“Our son came to the school last year and we have been thrilled with his progress and the experiences he has had. He is truly a good example of a student touched by the Wellesley magic”
– Margaret
“It is such a pleasant feeling when we meet our son after school and find that he had a good day, and regales us with stories of wharf jumping and other fun activities. This is just great for us, given that we are both often full on at work and his happiness at school, is just one less thing we have to worry about”
– Phil and Barbara
“I can honestly say I don’t think we will ever spend money more wisely than Wellesley. Rory loved his time at Wellesley and I do think he could not have received the same attention anywhere else”
– Lyncia
